It's back!!!

Post by rvbush » Fri Nov 29, 2019 10:00 am

Shouldn't we have an 'it's back' thread?

Huge thanks to whoever has resurected this, there may not be many of us (at the moment) but we're pretty loyal.

I've been on here for centuries and it really started my forum journey, picked up no end of top info from some very knowledgeable people. Just remember we are allowed to talk about cars (significantly inferior, obviously) other than E36's, so lets see if justice can be done for those responsible for the phoenix moment!

I genuinely thought that was probably the end of the forum for good. Glad to see it’s alive once more

Great to see this place still ticking over.

I have actually logged in with some very sad news that our long time friend DJ passed away last night and whilst I am friends with many on Facebook, I am not connected to all hence me digging out my old log in details.

To our friend DJ. May he rest in eternal peace, I am honoured to have known him.

Very sad news about Ian and DJ; I didn't know Ian but had exchanged messages with DJ a couple of times.

Great news about the forum though; as said by others, I assumed that was the end of it. To celebrate I've actually updated my journal!!

I didn't know DJ but am sad to hear he's passed away.

For what worth I'm really chuffed this place is still online, if only as a technical resource/archive. There's enormously valuable info on here that's simply not found on other forums. I have also met some great people on here over the years, several of whom are really close friends still today.

It does feel as though people have moved more to FB and instaballs etc, although I'm not clear why as it doesn't offer any opportunity to discuss or communicate and seems to me to be just lots of #sick #e36 #bbs nonsense. Most social media to me seems to be showing off/slightly sad efforts to get positive affirmation from peers, not "I'm trying to do this thing, and have got stuck/want advice etc". Does that mean that people aren't doing stuff anymore?

Maybe people aren't playing with E36's anymore to the same extent. Assume most moved to '46, then to '92 and now to PCP F80's and only have warranty claims and finance packages to discuss? if that is the case, it's a sad state of affairs.

If I could think of a way to reawaken this forum, I'd be all over it - I don't know what it might be however.

Completely agree with this. You just don't get "threads" on facebook, just snap shot posts. Nothing that can be found after a few days. The facebook groups just don't keep my attention.

I'm just re-doing the headlining on my compact. Any tips on how to keep the new fabric stuck in place? I've got some generic spray glue that came with the fabric.

Thanks Ollie, that's great! Looks better than the aerosol stuff. I can really work it into the fibreglass backing. I didn't want to go to all this effort just for it to sag on a hot day next year!

Cheers, appreciate it.
